Dr. Suzanne Wynter is a mortgage expert and risk management professional. She has over 20 years’ experience in the housing finance sector with most of her work concentrated in the areas of risk management and credit administration.
Currently, she is the General Manager, Loan Management responsibility for the NHT’s mortgage portfolio. Prior to this, she was Assistant General Manager, a position she held for thirteen years. Three years prior, she was the Risk Manager where she had primary responsibility for directing the NHT’s Enterprise Risk Management strategy and pioneering the development of a credit risk study.
Dr Wynter holds a Doctorate in Business Administration with focus on credit risk management. Her thesis examined the factors that influence credit risk from the customary standpoint of the probability of default and the unique perspective of the time it takes the borrower in default to cure and how the factors vary with income.
She also holds a Masters Degree in Computer-based Management Information Systems, Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of the West Indies, a Diploma in Systems Analysis & Design as well as the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation (while as an Internal Auditor). She has professional certifications in Enterprise Risk Management from the Georgia State University (a recipient of Spencer Foundation Scholarship), Housing Finance from the Wharton Business School and Operational Risk Management with the Bank of Ireland Group. The latter was based on an intensive five (5) days training tour of the Bank of Ireland’s Operational Risk Management framework.
Outside of work, Dr Wynter serves on the Board of Management for the St. Hugh’s High School and as a Justice of Peace for the parish of St. Andrew. She also lectures the course “Risk Management in Business Enterprise” in the Mona School of Business & Management (UWI), MSc Enterprise Risk Management programme.
She is a devout Christian and enjoys - travelling, doing logic puzzles, watching inspirational movies and spending time with family and friends.
